Winter can cause some serious gloom over our day-to-day lives, so why not brighten it up by welcoming a summery touch?

When I say we miss summer, I'm confident I speak for the majority. Those longer days spent outside soaking up what seemed like endless sun rays. But the moment has come, winter has cast a gloom over our lives and pushed us indoors.

When I think of summer and its many pleasant aspects, I think of the colours that represent it and the sentimental feeling that resonates alongside them. I will begin by saying the colour palette is limitless. Bright yellows, clear blues, zesty pinks, and a warm burned orange. I'm sure you're already drifting into the summer mindset, which is good, as we're just getting started. Provided the feelings these colours evoke, why not invite them into our life even on the coldest of days? Below are some of my favourite simple modifications to do in your daily life to feel as though summer is still present, but rather outside, added to the comfort of your own home.

Fresh flowers.

  • I'm sure you can agree when I say that summer is incomplete without fresh flowers. The days when you'd organize a stroll around the beautiful botanical gardens, immersing yourself in their colourful splendour and their particular but comforting scents. Adding such cheerful natural elements when the outdoors seems a touch dismal can enlighten not only the environment but also your mood. Small details have a big impression, so keep it simple.

Feeling over certain designs.

  • When considering the contents of your home we seem to struggle to escape our "ideal space" to create a more sentimental feeling instead. Many people turn to interior influences and inspiration when it comes to planning your next home make-over. Covering every aspect from colours, shapes, and even signature pieces. Although this isn't a bad thing, consider your feelings towards your space at the same time. A lot of design is subjective. You should liven up your household with a design or small motifs and changes because YOU like it. You can gain a better presence and mood within your own space when adding things that you like, rather than things that are 'in style'.

Vitamin D?

  • It's easy to feel particularly sunshine-deprived during those cold winter days. A simple, yet effective way to resolve this is to consider a daily vitamin D supplement. Ensure to refer to a pharmacist or your GP if you are cautious about adding such vitamin to your diet but trust me, you'll find your energy levels excel.

Spring clean.

  • Despite the fact that we're talking about winter, I can't help but think about spring cleaning. While the weather isn't cooperating for your hot girl walks, take the opportunity to work on interior projects that you normally wouldn't have time for. During this time you can start cleaning that one closet you dread or sorting through the contents of your fridge, keep in mind that you do need certain things around you to lift your spirits. They serve a function. Your living area is your home, not a museum. Declutter as needed and take one step at a time towards a cleaner and brighter home.

There are other additional methods to bring summer into the winter, but don't forget the most important point to remember - Do you! Throw trends and everyone else's opinions out the window and go with your intuition. Approach this winter with the idea that you don't have to follow the newest trends or styles, more importantly, beat winter and reclaim your summer glow now!
